Pedal to Empower - June 5th

Updated: May 17, 2021

June 3rd is World Bicycle Day. To celebrate this, World Bicycle Relief are holding their annual "Pedal to Empower" ride on June 5th. Since this is a Saturday, we'll be taking part in this effort to raise awareness and funds by doing something slightly different for our RideOut.

We all know the power of the bicycle - for pleasure and mental wellbeing. We're proud to use that privilege to empower other women and girls across the world to even MORE freedom! Imagine if you didn't have a car. Imagine your water supply or school is miles away from where you live, and your only means of transport is your feet. Now imagine how a bicycle could REALLY change your life...

Join our #PinkPeloton to raise funds and empower women across the world. We're hoping to raise £120 (the price of one Buffalo Bike) by riding 160 miles on June 5th. 160 miles is the distance a young mother in Zimbabwe travelled for her Buffalo Bicycle to help grow her business and provide for her family.

Don't worry, we'll be sharing the load and riding the 160 miles between us! But instead of a coffee stop, we'll donate our coffee and cake pennies to the charity. Or target is to fund one Buffalo Bike (£120) and change one woman's life forever. OK, I know denying you coffee and cake is cruel...it's our raison d'être after all! So we'll provide the coffee and cake, and you make a donation 👍.

So...what IS a Sportive anyway?

A Sportive is basically an organised ride, for tens, hundreds or even thousands of riders. Instead of following a route on your computer...
